Thank you for all questions you sent in for the interview I did with the heavies when they were in Copenhagen November 12th. Here are some of the questions with answer from the band.

John Kanopka, NJ, USA
I have to know...when are the Brand New Heavies planning on touring Stateside? I saw you on your last tour with Seidah, and have seen N'dea, and now need to see how Carleen brings life to these songs!

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
We will probably come to the States next year (2000). But due to unexpected recording commitments in the US we will not see you this year.

Christopher Kalie, South Africa
Will your forthcoming album will be infused with the same disco/funk era sound that we've heard on the three new tracks on Trunk Funk, much like the direction that Jamoroquai has taken with their current release Synkronized?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
We will be starting to write songs for the new album soon and I think the new album will have some influences from the previous albums. I donīt think the bonus tracks on the Trunk funk greatest hits album are representative for the new sound, but I'm sure you wonīt be disappointed.

Matthias Kaminsky, Germany

Will the album "Shibuja 357 / Live in Japan" released in the future???

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
The album will not be released in the future. It wasnīt released by our record company. Actually I didnīt like that recording. But perhaps we will release a new live album in the future, you never know...

Saku Salminen, Finland

1. What's your favorite town in the world, in Europe and in Britain.
How come?

2. Do you like ice cream? Which flavor?
3. You have taken an elephant as your symbol. What does it mean to you?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
1. London! But New York is also a cool city. I like to travel and see different places.
2. If you you want to buy me ice cream, buy me a strawberry ice cream.
3. The elephants symbolizes African rhythms. The elephant is also a smart respected animal. It wouldnīt be the same to have a mouse (!) as our symbol.

Sean, England

You have always been the band with most style.
Where do you buy most of your clothes, on your travels or good old London Town? What are your favorite shops in London?
Thank you for so many great tunes over the years, Never stop!

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
We buy our clothes both in London and in places all over the world when we are on tour, and I donīt have any specific favorite shop.

Bas van Herten, Netherlands

When will the new album come out? And if you would have to name an animal to compare it with, what animal would that be?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
The new album will be out next spring or perhaps you have to wait until the summer. Things always take more time...

Kajsa Zachariae, Denmark

Do you think you are going to maybe try to work with other artist, as for example Stevie Wonder or Jamiroquai?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
We have no plans to work with other artists right now. We have just got Carleen Anderson as our new lead singer so we want her be a part of the band before we start working with other artists, but you never know...

Chris, Canada

Any plans for 'Heavy Rhyme Experience' Volume II?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
We would love to do a Heavy Rhyme Experience part II, but now we are starting working with our new album, which will be released next year.

Keith Mycek, USA

Is there any hard feelings between the band and N'Dea? Is there any chance for a collaboration in the future?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
There are absolutely no hard feelings between us and NīDea. She joined the band when we needed a singer. Actually she was going to do a solo career then but she waited because she joined us. When she left the band she felt that the time was right for her solo career. Itīs not impossible that we will collaborate in the future, actually we have already had a reunion show with NīDea.

Stefan, Austria

A big hello to the Heavies and also thank you for your music .OK my questions are as follows :
1. Why don't you keep on working together with MAW or David Morales or Joey Negro for some more remixes on your songs ?
2. Will there be any instrumental songs on a new album like BNH, Gimme one of those, Headhunters, etc ?

Jan Kincaid, The brand new heavies
1. Perhaps we will. We try different producers. Actually I'm remixing some of our stuff myself.
2. I'm sure there be at least one (perhaps two) instrumental songs on the new album.

These were answers to some of YOUR questions, perhaps you will find a part II on this page soon...
